(Both Dr Sarah Egan and Dr Amanda Bolton will be co-presenting as speakers on their findings.) Dr Sarah Egan and Dr Amanda Bolton are both senior clinical psychologists and co-partners and trainers at Eating Disorders Training Australia (EDTA). We have extensive experience training and supervising clinicians across Australia and internationally in supporting the development of body satisfaction and helping clinicians grow, develop and help their clients in an affirming, weight-neutral and compassionate way.
We have developed and implemented workshops for large national organisations, informed multiple national sporting bodies, run training in the United States, presented on national radio and international webinars and podcasts, ran many clinician group supervisions, developed and published workbooks and self directed learning in this space. We also are both clinicians who own our own clinical practices, and are on the ground doing this work day to day. Our work centres lived experience, draws on practice guidelines and comprehensive knowledge of research in this space to inform and explore. Through EDTA, we not only support clinicians to feel comfortable learning about this work, but guide them through the stages of integrating this into their clinical practice, so we are very familiar with some of the common pitfalls that arise and how to support movement towards helpful approaches.
