Dr George Loram

Central Australian Aboriginal Congress
George Loram

George is an early career clinical psychologist currently based in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) on beautiful Arrernte Country. Currently, he splits his time between Central Australian Aboriginal Congress, headspace, and his private practice.

His work through Congress involves providing psychological support to Aboriginal people and their families, providing support to a remote Aboriginal community, and facilitating a remote men’s mental health group.

These varied roles have given him a unique perspective on how mental health looks different in different cultures and settings, and has also highlighted the importance of factors like connection with family, culture, spirituality and Country. George is interested in the intersection of western models of clinical practice, Aboriginal conceptualisations of mental health, and making psychological treatment safer and more accessible for Aboriginal Australians.
